Pre-programmed open group walks occur throughout the year. There is a wide choice and a variety of routes, levels and lengths. Starting out from Bowden Bridge, famous for the mass trespass of 1932. We ascend William Clough up on to the Kinder Plateau. Magnificent views are to be enjoyed from the Kinder Edge, especially Edale valley. Striking out across the top for some bog hopping over the peat groughs, before finally returning to Bowden Bridge
Derwent Edge & Lost Lad
Fairholmes visitors centre, we pass Derwent Dam, famous for its association with the Dam Busters Raids. After a short walk beside the reservoir, we ascend to Derwent Edge. Following the ridge we pass Wheel Stones, Salt Cellar & Cakes of Bread before arriving at Lost Lad view point. We return via Abbey Brook & along Derwent Res.
Higger Tor & Carl Wark
This beautiful walk takes us up Padley Gorge & the Longshaw Estate, through Oak forests with babbling brooks and delightful waterfalls. In contrast we then head out across open moorland along Burbage Moor and Higger Tor, stopping to admire Carl Walk Fort, before returning to Grindleford Station.
Big Moor & White Edge
This walk takes in a number of popular edges. After leaving a delightful birch woodland, we arrive at Gardom’s Edge to admire the prehistoric stone artwork. Crossing Big Moor along White Edge & Froggatt Edge in hope of see the herd of Red Deer. We return along Baslow Edge, before heading back to Nether End.
Sheldon & Magpie Mine
The highlight of this walk is undoubtedly the famous Magpie Mine, with its rich mining history going back hundreds of years. We also visit flower meadows, woodland areas and the limestone valley of Deep Dale.
